Dave and I have just gotten back from Monticello, Kentucky where the new houseboats are being built. For those of you who have never been involved in building a houseboat let me explain a little bit on how it works. When you custom build a houseboat, it is just like building a house. You pick a boat size, decide on room layouts, how many baths, bed sizes, kitchen size, etc. After you decide on a plan, the hull is the first thing they build. It is a welded aluminum hull. Then they add the exterior walls. The roof is built on the floor then it is hoisted and attached to the exterior walls. Plumbing and wiring is installed, cabinets built, and lighting placed. Then it finishes from there, much like a house. I have selected countertops, appliances, faucets, window dressings, and bedding that I thought would make you feel like you were on a luxury yacht. We added things like tracking satellites for TV, central air, slides, bars, and fly bridges for your added comfort and enjoyment.
I have put photos of the houseboats under construction in the gallery section of this web site. As you can see, the first one is just about to the finishing stage. The first houseboat is one of the 6 bedroom boats and we anticipate delivery of that one in mid- March. The rest will follow in approximately two week increments. Be sure and check back for photos of the delivery. That is really something to see!!
